August 29, 2017     Exeter News

The wait is over! Exeter’s new Harry Potter themed bar has now opened its doors on Gandy Street (25 August). And if you didn’t already know about it, we’re going to fill you in on all the deets here.

If you didnt know about Exeter's Harry Potter bar...

The new establishment – called The Cauldron Inn – will replace Exeter’s Club Cantina, and, spread across four floors, will offer visitors a chance to participate in all things wizardly!

As Exeter’s first augmented reality pub, the pub will possess numerous magical, medieval qualities, including moving paintings, floating candles, themed rooms, suitably-dresses staff and even an escape room-themed augmented reality app!

Gandy Street is said to be the inspiration behind JK Rowling’s Diagon Alley; she even went to Exeter University and often frequented the cafes and bars in the area, as well as many of Exeter’s famous landmarks during her studies. In fact, numerous Exeter locations provided inspiration to the author’s world-famous novels.

The brains behind the new bar are Novelty Bars Ltd who believe they can turn Cantina into a spiritual home for Harry Potter lovers around the world.

A magical menu

The Cauldron Inn has now revealed its exciting menu, offering a plethora of enchanting entrees and dishes such as Wings of Fire, warming soups and oven-baked dishes served in cauldron cobs, pizzas and an extensive children’s menu.

The innovative augmented reality app featuring an escape room will also offer guests the chance to solve clues and win discounts off drinks, met witches, dragons and other mythical creatures, and cast spells.

The ground floor will stun visitors with its moving paintings, chandeliers and a magic mirror that can take selfies and print pictures – a wonderful way to start your magical night in The Cauldron Inn!

The first floor is home to ‘The Library’ which stocks over a thousand books, ‘The Potion Room’ with over 500 potions, and ‘The Common Room’ – designed with comfort in mind.

Next, you can journey to the medieval second floor, where you will find ‘The Dragon Room’ with skulls and knights of the round table and ‘The Astronomy Room’ where you can study star signs, crystal balls and magic lights.
